Taking The Lead

Eusebio HEusebio H. Tanco

Mr. Eusebio H. Tanco, 70, is a Philippine businessperson who has been at the helm of 41 different companies. Mr. Tanco holds the position of Chairman for Maestro Holdings, Inc., Venture Securities Inc., Philippines First Insurance Co. Inc., Manila Bay Hosiery Mills, Inc., Mactan Electric Company, iAcademy, Delos Santos-STI College, STI West Negros University, Grow Vite Inc., STI Education Systems Holdings Inc. and Eximious Holdings Inc. He is the Chairman and President of Prime Power Holdings Corporation and Prudent Resources Inc. He is the CEO and Director of Classic Finance Inc. and the Vice Chairman and President of Asian Terminals Inc. He is also the President of Bloom with Looms Logistics Inc., Total Consolidated Asset Management Inc., International Hardwood & Veneer Co. of the Philippines, Cement Center Inc., First Optima Realty Corporation, Mar-bay Homes Inc., Amina Inc., Global Resource for Outsourced Workers Inc., Biolim Holdings and Management Corporation, Tantivy Holdings Inc. and Eujo Phils. Inc. Mr. Tanco is associated with the Philippines-Thailand Business Council and Philippines-UAE Business Council both as Chairman. He is a Board of Trustee at Philippines, Inc. and a Member of Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Mr. Tanco is a Director of Twelve (12) other companies including the Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. In the past Eusebio H. Tanco occupied the position of Chairman at Agatha Builders Corp., President and Chief Executive Officer of Optima Financing Corp., Director at Bank of Commerce (Philippines) and Chairman for JTH Davies Holdings, Inc.

The Palawan State University conferred Mr. Tanco a degree in Doctor of Humanities, honoris causa in 2007. He obtained a degree of Master of Science in Economics from London School of Economics & Political Science in 1973 and a degree of Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1970.

Sam Wong

Mr. Sam Wong was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) of LRWC.

He was the former General Manager of Zhoude Industrial Co. Limited, where he offered expert advice on contracts, negotiations, and business deals that the company entered into. Prior to that, he was the General Manager of Chinaway Business Limited. There he acted as a strategic partner by developing and implementing the companies’ plans and programs for long term growth initiatives and introduced new strategic actions. Mr. Wong also worked as an Operation Director in HXPM Limited for 5 years, where he was in charge of providing financial guidance that includes improving the planning and budgeting process, as well as mentoring to encourage growth and development among the work force in general. All these companies are engaged in businesses in the financial sector, and as such, Mr. Wong’s appointment as COO of LRWC is expected to enhance the financial stability of LRWC and its group of companies.

Mr. Wong holds a Diploma in Accounting from the Shanghai Institute of Tourism.

 

lfredo Abelardo BAlfredo Abelardo B. Benitez

Mr. Alfredo Abelardo B. Benitez completes the roster of Board of Directors for LRWC. Mr. Benitez returns after successfully finishing three terms in public office as the Congressman of the Third District of Negros Occidental. Known as the “game changer”, Mr. Benitez founded Bingo Bonanza Corporation and later brought it to become a publicly listed entity – Leisure & Resorts World Corporation. At the young age of 26 years old, his dreams of creating a gaming empire was brought to life on May 16, 1993, in a cramped office under the staircase of Megamall Building B. With proven entrepreneurial skill in his DNA, Mr. Benitez’s return to LRWC brings confidence to the organization’s road towards a diversified and prosperous direction.

Mr. Benitez graduated from William & Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia major in Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

Paolo Martin O BautistaPaolo Martin O. Bautista

Mr. Bautista has been a Director of STI Holdings since 19 December 2012. He is likewise the Chief Investment Officer, Head of Corporate Strategy and a member of the Audit Committee of STI Holdings. He is also a director of STI Education Services Group Inc. Mr. Bautista is an advisor to the Investment Committee of PhilPlans. He has over 20 years’ experience in the areas of corporate finance, mergers and acquisition, debt and equity capital markets, credit risk management and securities law. Prior to joining STI Holdings, he was a director at Citigroup Global Markets and a Vice President at Investment Banking Division of Credit Suisse.

Mr. Bautista obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree, Bachelor of Laws degree and Juris Doctor from the Ateneo de Manila University and obtained a Master of Science degree in Management from the Arthur D. Little School of Management, Cambridge, MA.

Lawrence CobankiatLawrence Cobankiat

Mr. Lawrence Cobankiat is currently connected with Jellco Enterprises, Inc. as well as Protech Global Solutions as the President and CEO. He is the Chairman of GRP Mobile Solutions Inc. and Director of Fidelity Steel Manufacturing Inc. (or Hi-Tech Steel). A visionary, strategist and entrepreneur, Mr. Cobankiat has developed effective management and leadership skills in his 28 years of experience in real estate and construction industry. Mr. Cobankiat puts value in product research, new business development, start-ups, expansion and growing businesses.

He demands a high involvement in marketing research, curating new ideas, producing detailed plans for product roll out and development.

Mr. Cobankiat holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the Ateneo De Manila University. We offer a warm welcome to Mr. Cobankiat as one of LRWC’s Board of Directors member.

Willy N OcierWilly N. Ocier

Mr. Willy Ocier, Filipino, is the Chairman and President of the Pacific Online Systems Corporation (company) and has been a Director of LRWC since July 29, 1999. Currently he is Co Vice-Chairman of Belle Corporation and serves as the Vice Chairman of Highlands Prime, Inc. and Tagaytay Highlands International Golf Club, Inc. He is also the Chairman of the Board and Director of Premium Leisure Corp. as well as with APC Group, Inc., and Premium Leisure and Amusement, Inc. Mr. Ocier serves as the Chairman of Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club, Inc., The Country Club at Tagaytay Highlands, Inc. and The Spa and Lodge Inc., Abacore Capital Holdings, Inc. as well as Total Gaming Technologies, Inc. He likewise holds directorship position with Leisure and Resorts World Corporation, Vantage Equities Inc., and Toyota Corporation Batangas. He is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Philippine Global Communications, Inc. He previously held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of Eastern Securities Development Corporation.

Mr. Ocier graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. In recognition of Mr. Ocier’s corporate leadership and role in providing employment opportunities to Filipinos, the University of Batangas conferred him a degree in Doctor of Humanities, honoris causa.

Renato NunezRenato G. Nuñez

Mr. Renato G. Nuñez, Filipino, is a familiar name in Leisure & Resorts World Corporation who has held key positions from 2001 to 2016. In 2015, Mr. Nuñez took over as the President of CATS Motors, dealer of Mercedes-Benz and American auto brands such as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. Under his watch, CATS was able to focus on the retail aspect of the business including after-sales service which made Mercedes-Benz the leading luxury car brand in 2016, 2017 and 2018 in the Philippines. He is also a Director at Coventry Motors Corporation (CMC), the creator of All British Cars which is the first and only official distributor authorized to sell and service Jaguar and Land Rover in the country. Prior to his blossoming track in the car industry, Mr. Nuñez has long been a seasoned entrepreneur in the gaming industry holding positions as President and Chairman of Arwen Gaming Consultancy, Inc., Leisure Advantage Inc., Techglobal Data Center, Inc., and Techzone Philippines, Inc., among others.

Mr. Nuñez graduated from the De La Salle University in 1991 with a degree in BS Industrial Management Engineering Minor in Mechanical Engineering. We are elated to welcome him back and be among the driving forces of LRWC once again.

Max Aaron WongMax Aaron Wong

Mr. Max Aaron Wong, a Hong Kong national, is the Finance Director of GTS Platform Services Limited, a fin-tech company based in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Taiwan. Mr. Wong is an FCCA (Fellow Chartered and Certified Accountant) holder, a prestigious title given to those who have extensive and made a long-term commitment to professionalism and ethics especially in the field of Finance. With his strong theoretical background and extensive practical experiences, Mr. Wong has honed his skills in management, financial reporting, analysis, consolidation, strategic planning in pre-CIO, budgeting, internal control, system review and enhancement. Prior to joining LRWC, he has worked in several multinational companies in Asia and the Oceania region.

He studied Business Studies from Monash University in Australia and earned his Master of Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) including his Diploma of Financial Market and Postgraduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment. A result driven, self-motivated, resourceful and tech savvy financial controller with strong management accounting skills, Mr. Wong brings with him a wealth of experience in bridging the gap between Finance and Technology.

Atty. Mardomeo N. Raymundo, Jr.Atty. Mardomeo N. Raymundo, Jr.

Atty. Mardomeo N. Raymundo, Jr. was elected as Director of LRWC on August 28, 2020. His legal practice has run its entire breadth, encompassing major fields in commercial law and taxation, including high-level corporate work, special projects, tax and civil litigation, labor standards and relations, as well as intellectual property. His practice cuts across a wide range of key industries, including mining, hotel, gaming, outsourcing, real estate, and infrastructure. With his extensive knowledge and experience in corporate law, he has implemented various corporate reorganizations and rendered advice on a myriad of commercial transactions, with emphasis on tax and regulatory compliance. One of his corporate restructuring ventures involved a transaction value of Php22 billion.

Mr. Raymundo’s tax litigation practice is equally impressive. He has won numerous and precedent-setting cases in claims for refund of taxes, and protests against deficiency internal revenue and local tax assessments, with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, various local government units, the Court of Tax Appeals, the Regional Trial Courts, and the Supreme Court. Among others, he successfully represented a client in claiming the refund of erroneously paid taxes in the amount of Php220 million.

The dynamics of his core legal practice extends to providing advisory and due diligence work, corporate housekeeping, contract drafting and review, labor representation, and other regulatory matters with other government agencies, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and the Philippine Intellectual Property Office.

Winston A ChanWinston A. Chan, CISM, CISA, CPA

Mr. Winston A. Chan is one of the Independent Directors of LRWC. He is a retired partner of SGV/EY and former managing partner of SGV/EY Advisory Service Line. He has more than 34 years of Audit and IT Audit, and Strategic IT and Business Consulting Experience.

Mr. Chan is a Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is a member of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), and the board of directors of the Harvard Club of the Philippines (HCP). He is the chairman of the ICT committee of the SGV Foundation. He completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at the Harvard Business School in Boston, MA, The Advanced Business Strategy Course at INSEAD Singapore, and the Management Development Program at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy at Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

During his tenure at SGV, he lead the transformation of what was mainly risk consulting practice to a  broader porfolio of business consulting services with capabilities in customer, finance, supply chain and IT advisory. He has also served as the Co-president of the Harvard Club of the Philippines from 2014 to 2016, and as Co-president of the Harvard Business School Club of the Philippines from 2012 to 2014. Mr. Chan served for two terms as a member of the board of directors of the Information Technology Association of the Philippines (ITAP).

 

Restituto O. Bundoc

Mr. Restituto O. Bundoc joins the LRWC Group as the new President of the Retail division. He served as the former Vice President for school operations of STI Education Services Group, Inc. and lead the STI network of schools nationwide, both franchised and company-owned.

Mr. Bundoc has shown a proven track record in management and a strong leadership role in strategic thinking and strategy formulation, operations planning and implementation, organizational transformation, franchise management, training and leadership, branding, advertising, media and public relations.

Mr. Bundoc graduated from Adamson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and holds an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Management.
